  At the beginning of the day your pre-kindergartener will be handed a packet of papers. He or she is expected to complete them before they are allowed to play. Both indoor playtime and outdoor recess will be voided if the work is not completed. The teachers do not work with the children on the papers, instead leaving mere 4 year olds to figure out the work on their own. Due to the strict punishments for those who do not complete their work, copying off neighbor’s work is not only promoted it is the norm at the pre-k level. My repeated attempts to discuss my concerns with the school resulted in my being stunned when the teacher herself referred to needing to suppress the creativity and unique personality of my child. The principal has a brown-nose, for lack of a better term, happy to say whatever you need to hear to get her hands on your money and keep you there. I never dreamed I would say that as the 2009-2010 school year draws to a close I am looking forward to sending my child to public school. Perhaps you need another reason to stay away, if so keep in mind that even the preschool program has $1000 worth of hidden fees that are completely undisclosed until AFTER school starts.
